Comprehending the Incomprehensible

The love of God is the hardest of all His attributes to speak about. You may not understand God’s love for us. I don’t know that I do myself. We are trying to comprehend the incomprehensible. It is like trying to take the ocean in your arms, or embrace the atmosphere, or rise to the stars. No one can do it, so I suppose I must do the best I can and trust the Holy Spirit to make up for human lack.…
When it says, “God is love,” it means that love is an essential attribute of God’s being. It means that in God is the summation of all love, so that all love comes from God. And it means that God’s love, we might say, conditions all of His other attributes, so that God can do nothing except He does it in love.…

Don't worry, it's part of the all things...

Over the last few week I have been reminded again of one of my fathers favorite sayings when things seemed to be going wrong; "don't worry, it's part of the all things". One of His favorite passages was Roman 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them (NLT).

Over the last weeks we have been experiencing God taking us into a new season of life in Him. As is so often the case when change comes, it has felt uncomfortable and a little scary as our sense of security in how things were has been challenged. Inevitably at this time, as we have clung to what we know to to be the nature of our God and my fathers words have come back to me again... "don't worry, it's part of the all things".

The thing is though, I have realised as I have pondered and meditated on this passage. That my understanding of the "all things" of God was very limited and I have been blessed as God has reminded me of His perfection in all of this.

As is so often the case, as we look at the things that happen to us and seek to apply this passage to our situation, taking comfort in the "God causing everything to work together for God" for us. We become focused on us and our situation.

Peace

The peace of God... not as the world gives.
The peace of God is not based on an absence, the world's peace is all about removeing the problems etc. It is based on a presence, of God Himself through the Holy Spirit, pouring in His grace and love. In the MIDDLE of turmoil we can know PEACE!!!
